Art of Effective Delegation

Delegation is the assignment of authority and responsibility to another person to carry out specific activities. Delegation empowers a subordinate to make decisions and unleash hidden potentials if done correctly. Delegation is a very helpful aid for succession planning and personal development.

Very often, however, there is confusion about the true meaning and nature of delegation. Certain patterns in thoughts and beliefs may hinder managers from delegating as often as they should.

In this session, participants will define delegation, discuss what stops us from delegating, understand why delegation fails and brainstorm to identify ways to overcome delegation failures. With the experiential methodology that The Yellow Spot uses, participants will be sensitized to the fact that delegation is an effective balance of choosing the right tasks to delegate, identifying the right people to delegate to, delegating in the right way and finally discuss the need to follow up on tasks along with constructive feedback.



Assertive communication is the ability to express positive and negative ideas and feelings in an open, honest and direct way. It recognizes our rights while still respecting the rights of others. It allows us to take responsibility for ourselves and our actions without judging or blaming other people. It also allows us to constructively confront and find a mutually satisfying solution where conflict exists.

All of us use assertive behaviour at times. However, often when we feel vulnerable or unsure of ourselves we may resort to submissive, manipulative or aggressive behaviour. Being trained in assertive communication actually increases the appropriate use of this sort of behaviour.

Assertiveness Training enables participants to drop old behaviour patterns and change themselves towards a win-win approach for life.


Basic Negotiation Skills

Transactional Analysis (Basic and Advanced)

Transactional Analysis (TA) is defined as a theory of personality and is a systematic psychotherapy for personal growth and personal change.

A “transaction” is a stimulus coupled with a response. A transaction means an exchange – in communication there is an exchange of information, feelings, likes and dislikes, etc. It can be a “Hello,” a “Smile” or an “Angry Expression”. Thus when two or more people communicate, they do so verbally or non – verbally. One party sends a stimulus and the other the response.
