employee engagement workshop

Employee engagement workshops form a part of the ongoing employee engagement initiatives that organisations run for their employees. As we all know, employees are without any doubt, the biggest and the most important asset of an organisation. In fact, organisations wouldn’t be able to run if there were no people to run them! Ensuring that our employees are well engaged is therefore something that all organisations really need to focus on.

To improve employee engagement, certain steps can be followed. And these are exactly what we are going to talk about in our article today. Although there are multiple things to be taken into account, I will condense them into five simple steps to make it easy. So, let’s start…

Step 1: Right One for the Right Job

We have all experienced how we work really well when we love the job we are doing. It’s therefore very important to hire the right person for the right job. A disconnect between the job and the person doing it can lead to a demotivated employee and an unfit hire for an organisation. And that’s definitely going to lead to disengagement! The need for employee engagement therefore starts right from the time you hire people in your organisation.

Step 2: Develop

Employees being the most important asset, it’s important the asset appreciates in value! Developing your employees is therefore extremely important and serves two purposes. It helps the person enhance his or her capabilities and grow further and also helps the organisation in growing by developing internal resources rather than hiring them from outside, saving huge costs in the process.

Step 3: Opportunity and Recognition

Providing your people opportunities to grow and progress in life makes them feel valued. Conducting corporate training programs is one of the ways, which we commonly put under the heading of development. The other is by providing opportunities to work on different projects, in different environment, giving additional responsibilities, decision making power, etc. These build higher trust in the hearts of the employees towards their organisation. Also, rewarding and recognising people for their good work motivates them to a great extent. This definitely engages them.

Step 4: Being heard

This is something that is rare but is highly effective. We always give feedback to employees, and almost never ask for it! This is something that organisations need to do. Just like giving constructive feedback to our employees is important, it’s also important to give them a voice and hear what they have to say about the organisation. Considering employees’ suggestions and opinions makes a big difference to them and makes them feel highly valued.

Step 5: Recreational activities

This is something that many companies are now doing in the form of employee engagement workshops and is very effective too. Organisations conduct and arrange for team building activities once a while. Here, the whole team comes together and gets a chance to interact with one other beyond work. These employee engagements workshops are done in various formats. And can be anything from a singing or painting competition to an actual team building workshop. Outbound employee engagement workshops, commonly called outbound team building workshops, are very effective when it comes to energizing teams to perform better. Even capsule size workshops of an hour or so conducted during working hours can do wonders when it comes to refreshing the team and getting them ready again for the daily grind!

Employee engagement is a serious subject and Organisations need to consider it as a priority. And regular employee engagement workshops can help them keeping up with that!
